Scholarships

The Torrington Rotary Club provides scholarship opportunities to area students.  The Scholarship Committee reviews every application and interviews each applicant in the selection process.
The criteria used are:
The Student:has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher education and plans to attend

• is a resident of Torrington, Harwinton, or Goshen
• has financial need
• has demonstrated academic achievement
• has demonstrated the characteristics of good citizenship

 All applications need to be submitted on or before June 1st of the applicable year,    the scholarships are awarded on or before September 1st of the applicable year. You can download the application from the Downloads section to the right.

Additionally, the Club provides “Tool Awards” to selected graduating students from the Oliver Wolcott Technical School. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

Cathy Coyle, President of the Torrington Rotary Club announced the 2007-2008 scholarship winners at the August 21 meeting. Many of the 30 scholarship winners attended the meeting. Three of the students are from Goshen, and twenty-seven live in Torrington. The total amount distributed to the students was $20, 500.00 USD.
