In 1993 the Torrington Rotary Club developed the idea of a Junior Golf Tournament.  Based on a similar format of the existing Torrington Rotary Charitable Golf Tournament, the Jr. Golf Tournament has become equally successful.

The concept of fostering the highest attributes of good sportsmanship in both young men and women using golf as the template, became the goal of the Torrington Rotary.

Every year this tournament hosts well over 150 participants from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. The quality of golf that these young golfers bring to the tournament increases every year and the scores obtained by the top prize winners of both the girls and boys divisions are scores that many adults would like to have!

Since 1920, the Torrington Rotary Club, has initiated or supported many programs that enrich the lives of children. Some programs involve the truly basic needs of life, such as food and water. Other programs involve medical needs such as polio immunization, preventable blindness or restoring limbs lost by landmines. This tournament teaches fair play, respect for others and a great recreational activity.
