Torrington Rotary Club
International Service
Rotary Shares, the 2007 – 2008 Rotary Theme says it all. Rotarians world-wide care about their neighbors, those nearby or faraway. Rotary is truly an International Organization. The Torrington Rotary Club takes pride in working with others to make the lives of people, just a little better or sometimes a lot better.
Our projects include supporting the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschapples, Haiti with a well project, an ambulance and four, all-terrain vehicles (to transport patients and/or medical staff to remote villages.
Torrington Rotary repaired/or restored the eyesight for 156 people in India. It is a difficult life to be poor in India, but being poor and blind it tragedy beyond our understanding.
Recently, the Tanzanian Children’s Village has become a cause for Torrington Rotary to act with kindness and funding to bring about better drinking water in the orphanage. The children of the Rift Valley, Tanzania will continue to receive support from Torrington in the years to come.

Presently, the Mekele Blind School, in Ethiopia has caught the attention of the Torrington Rotary Club and will soon benefit from our work and generosity. The needs of these children are great and a woman from nearby Norfolk, Connecticut has formed a support group that will be at the school in June of 2007. Although the project has not been fully planned, the likelihood of a well project and a solar oven will most likely be our target. Go to: http://www.mekeleblindschool.org .
Torrington Rotary does this work with a smile. This is not a burden, but just a “lift up” for those who need us.
