Torrington Rotary Club
Community Service
Service defines Rotary's character; whether local or international, it promotes Rotary's appeal and visibility in the community, and is the reason Rotary continues to grow.
Community Service responds to the needs of a local community (Goshen, Harwinton and Torrington). The Rotary Club determines top priorities for service projects by first learning about a community's needs and assets, and then developing a response that addresses them.
An effective service project is one that:
- Responds to a real issue, not an imagined one.
- Improves the lives of community members.
- Incorporates the abilities of those who are served.
- Recognizes all participants' contributions as important and necessary.
- Comes from a realistic assessment of resources available.
- Aims for specific goals and objectives with measurable results.
- Builds a working network
The Torrington Rotary Club, since 1920 has become a major source for projects in the greater Torrington area. Some projects are initiated by the club, however many, too many to be mentioned here are needed projects developed by area helping agencies that require financial support. Requests for funding are gladly reviewed by our Community Service Committee and their recommendations are forwarded to the Club’s Board of Directors for further consideration.
If your agency would like to request funding for a project, please download the form listed in the Downloads section or fill out the form below.
